After a 10 year career working as a commercial graphic designer, Alischa had a yearning for a quieter and more beautiful life which saw a sea change to a rumbling old timber queenslander by the sea just north of Brisbane.
With a chance to follow her heart and follow her dream to create beautiful things, she stumbled upon the beautiful world of letterpress. A desire to reinvent this dying craftsmanship saw the beginning of many little steps to launch Bespoke Letterpress Boutique.
What five things do you love the most about letterpress?
1. Watching colours evolve as we hand mix our inks. You never quite know if the colour is going to be perfect until it is on the press and its that moment of "oh, oh, oh, ahh, it worked."
2. Lush, thick papers. We print on 100% cotton papers which are the most divine papers you have ever felt.
3. That moment you pull the very first print off the letterpress. Its the anticipation, the excitement, the joy at seeing the design prefectly pressed into the paper.
4. Beautiful, beautiful old machines.
5. I love the smell of our studio, the combination of inks and oils, cleaning supplies and beautifully fresh crisp sheets of paper!
