We’re delighted to introduce you to the incredibly talented Vicky Lastra, the artist behind so many of the beautiful illustrations you’ve come to know and love across our collections.
From delicate Gift Wrap and Greeting Cards to our signature Planners, Journals and 100% linen Tea Towels, Vicky’s work brings a refined, detailed charm that has quickly made her a beloved part of the Bespoke Letterpress creative family. Her art captures the wonder in everyday moments – intricate, thoughtful and endlessly inspiring.
We sat down with Vicky to learn more about her journey as an artist, her creative process, and what it’s been like collaborating with Bespoke Letterpress over the years.

Hi Vicky! Could you tell us a bit about your background and how you began your journey as an illustrator?
My name is Victoria, but everyone knows and calls me Vicky. I was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina and have always had a profound attraction and love for art. My grandfather was an artist, and he carried art in his blood, given Francisco de Goya was one of his ancestors. This is something I don’t share a lot but I’m extremely proud of.
My relationship with art became strong when I started primary school, in a very art and creativity oriented one, but never thought about being and artist until 10 years ago. I’m an architect and always used art as a way of communicating my designs to clients, no more than that.
By 2014, I moved to Costa Rica in the search of a new adventure and while working as an architect but in a way more relaxed kind of life, I reconnected with art as a hobby, soon to find that what I was illustrating had an enormous potential to be commercialised as souvenirs in Costa Rica.
That’s where it all began. And probably it’s easy to assume that a lot of my work was an inspiration of the place where I was living. Raw nature and untouched wilderness were all around me and part of my everyday life.
How would you describe your artistic style, and how has it evolved over time?
My style has evolved with the years but I guess it was always about details and delicacy. I like being able to achieve the true shapes and colours of everything that surround us.

Can you walk us through your creative process – from the initial idea to the final artwork?
About my creative process I always begin with ideas that come to me in the search of making life and things around us more beautiful. From there I look for reference images to be able to illustrate with accuracy but also that what I paint shows exactly what I meant in every shape and gesture. I always strive to draw things in a way each element is versatile and able to combine with others.
What materials and mediums do you prefer to work with, and why?
I mainly use gouache because I love how you can play with it’s opacity and capability of layering, so details are infinite. I struggle to decide when a piece is finished, there’s never enough textures and lights to add.
Where do you find inspiration for your illustrations? Are there particular places or experiences that influence you?
Sometimes inspiration comes from my past experiences and sometimes from daily life. But others it comes from people’s suggestions that I find interesting and trigger new things!
What has it been like collaborating with Bespoke Letterpress and what does the collaboration mean to you?
Collaborating with Bespoke Letterpress has been an absolute delight and honor. I love everything about the brand, from Alischa’s path and ability to design to the quality and style of her designs and products. I feel we speak the same art & design language and I couldn’t be more satisfied and amazed with the results! I feel very grateful of working with a brand like Bespoke Letterpress and every piece that comes to life makes me feel very proud!
Your beautiful illustrations have found their way onto everything from cards and gift wrap to journals and tea towels – If you had to choose, which product from the collection is your favourite?
I find it hard to decide which product is my favourite, but I guess I could say planners and greeting cards have stunned me the day I had them in my hands!
Lastly, what’s next for Vicky Lastra? Are there any upcoming projects you’re excited to explore?
I’ve been working and designing new products for my own brand now, and wallpaper is definitely the one that has me more exited about them all. I enjoy a lot working with brands and licensing my art and I look forward to having my art in more products around the world!
